The application process is free and open to all. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Join us this Fall! The Residency sessions for October, November, December 2018 will be €2600 for two consecutive months and €3600 for three consecutive months. The cost of the residency program is €1500 for the one month period. We encourage artists to consider staying more than one month in order to gain a deeper understanding of Athens as a cultural hub.
The Athena Standards Residency is open year round, with residency periods of one to twelve months. We are currently accepting applications for all sessions October 2018- July 2019, on a rolling basis. The residency will be closed the month of August.
All applications are reviewed by our International Selection Committee on a monthly basis, in the order they are received. Artists will be notified by the fifth of each month as to the status of their application. Applications for each residency period will close on the first day of the month, two months before the residency period begins:
- We will be accepting applications for October 2019 until July 31
- September 1 deadline for November 2018
- October 1 deadline for December 2018, etc.
The residency fee includes shared housing in Athens, with another residency artist, and full access to the Athena Standards Studio. The residency fee also includes a monthly metro pass. The studio building is keypad entry, and staffed by the Studio Manager on weekdays, and a security guard in the evenings.
Selection does not secure a spot, only the submission of the deposit; 35% of the residency fee, secures the reservation. The remainder of the residency fee is due two months before arrival. Incoming artists-in-residence will be sent a letter of acceptance and a contract with the deadlines for their residency session, which must be signed and returned.
Early application is encouraged; early applicants have a greater opportunity to select their studio of choice, as well as their preferred months. The residency fee is refundable at 50% up until one month before the residency session begins.
